On Memorial Day Weekend 2020, Specialist Enrique Roman-Martinez and 7 other soldiers from Fort Bragg, North Carolina decided to take a break for the long weekend. They hopped on a ferry and headed towards Cape Lookout National Seashore as a group of 8, but only 7 returned. What happened to Specialist Roman-Martinez who seemingly walked away from the group at midnight, never to return to his tent? The group of soldiers noticed he was missing early on May 23, 2020, and reported him missing 17 hours later.
Specialist Roman-Martinez’s remains were found less than a week later, washed ashore. His body only identified with dental records. The autopsy report was still pending when this episode was released, but the Army CID is investigating the case as a homicide.

this is enrique roman martinez sister! thank you for doing this podcast but this is the first time I'm hearing this phone call because the army has kept this from us. they have been trying to say that my brother is suicidal but that is not true!! also they didn't mention that he left his glasses behind too and my brother needs his glasses he has poor eyesight! my brother didn't even want to go on this trip! they convinced him! also 4 went in the morning (my brother included) and the other 4 arrived later in the day! please spread this! please my family just wants justice! my brother was a good kid he is non confrontational and generous and wouldn't harm a fly! he just wanted to come home.
