Coach McCreary explains some psychology in this episode and tells players and coaches why "You need to give 100%!" is not necessarily good advice. In the second part of the show, Coach McCreary shares a 2014 post he wrote on his website (BaseballByTheYard.com) titled Level of Mastery. In that post, he explains why it is so counterproductive for players to think that their performance and fundamentals will improve in the game when they don't focus on them in practice.
