Description
Episode 020: John Brink | The Brink Group of Companies | Brink Forest Products | Community Leader | Entrepreneur
John A. Brink began his life long forest industry career in Holland. He has broad ranging involvement in both secondary and primary manufacturing in both Holland and Canada.
John has the unique benefit of having extensive hands-on knowledge and experience. He developed his “no nonsense” management approach as the owner operator of Brink Forest Products Ltd. an integrated lumber re-manufacturing plant located in Prince George, BC producing a range of structural, industrial and value-added wood products destined for local and international markets. The company started operations on its current site in 1975 and has grown steadily within the forest products industry utilizing the softwood species of northern BC. In 2003 Brink Forest Products acquired Pleasant Valley Re-manufacturing Ltd. in Houston, BC. Brink purchased Palliser Lumber Sales located in Crossfield Alberta in 2005, at that point was by far the largest secondary manufacturer in Canada employing nearly 700 persons. The combined operations presently employ approximately 200 people.
John has a passion for the forest industry and his vision for the future is inspiring. He believes that our future depends on further manufacturing of our rich forest resources. By making more than dimension lumber, we could triple—or even quadruple forestry related jobs in British Columbia. John believes that we require a new industrial strategy that is firmly anchored to our strengths and exploits the ample opportunities available to us in the global market.
