Description

Welcome to the very first episode of 0G, A History of Forgotten Phones! 0G is a limited-run podcast where we look back at how weird and wonderful smartphones were back in the days before iOS and Android took over and your only option became a rectangular slab running one or the other.

0G is hosted by two people who were there: Christie Pitts (now at Backstage Capital), who started her career selling phones at a Verizon store, and Peter Rojas (now at Betaworks Ventures), founder of Gizmodo, Engadget, and gdgt.

Each episode we'll take a look back at a bunch of phones that were emblematic of that era. For Episode 1 we're going all the way back to 2002 through 2004 to discuss the Treo 600, Danger Hiptop / T-Mobile Sidekick, Motorola RAZR, Nokia N-Gage (and of course sidetalking!), Audiovox 6600 and 6700 (aka the HTC Apache), and HTC Canary. Note that this episode was recorded in September 2018, so some references we make to iPhones that were still unannounced at that time might be a little confusing.

Want to contact us? Christie is @imchristiepitts and Peter is @peterrojas on Twitter. We'd love to hear your thoughts on the show.
