Description

In many ways, the work of a voice actor is often more challenging than that of a stage or screen actor. We are required to do so much, with so very little. Where an on-screen actor can use body language, facial expressions and movement in addition to their voice to ‘sell’ a character, we must do the same, using only our voice.

We often record our scenes independently, and so have no one to ‘react’ to or play off. We’re not dressed in costume, surrounded by other characters or immersive sets… we are, for the most part, alone in our booths…

This week I talk about some of my favourite techniques for turning the tables, and truly immersing yourself in the role for character-based performance.
