Julie Proudfoot interviews Sandra Gonzalez, a former high school Spanish for native speakers teacher, a Ph.D. student, a community organizer, and a first-time candidate running for Waubonsee Community College trustee.  She is the executive director of the Aurora Rapid Response Team, a non-profit, that advocates for the rights of immigrant communities in the Aurora area.  Additionally, she is a doctoral student at Illinois State University, studying educational administration and foundations with a research focus on education and the influence of the Central American diaspora.
