Description

The United States has experienced a slew of mass murders in recent years, but the two mass shootings that occurred within 14 hours of each other in August of 2019 have made a big impact on a society that is becoming more complacent by the day. The 24-hour news cycle consistently seems to have a negative effect on the frequency of these mass shootings as well as the continued desensitization of our society.

This episode was far too political. Should we, shouldn't we, it's just not what I'm here for. I'm here to drown out my day with grizzly murder details and horrible phone calls.

I highly doubt that shooters are inspired to shoot because they knew the name of a previous killer. It's the action that inspired them.

I get not naming the shooter, and believe it would have an impact if it were possible to do. The problem is in our human nature to want to know these things. I mean here we are listening to this podcast because we want to hear this shit. It goes back to the Roman Colosseums and beyond, humans are drawn to violence. As long as we want to know, there will be a news outlet there to profit and supply the demand. Taking guns away wouldn't work either. We live in a time that vast information is at our finger tips and if you wanted a gun, you could build one easier than you may know. There is no easy answer, but I'll throw an idea in the pot. Why don't we give a little power back to the parents and start whooping these kids ass when they need it. It's a big difference between generations. But then you always get those parents that take it too far and ruin it for everyone. Lol there is just no winning, so do your best to prepare and ride out each day as if it's your last. Cause it could be. ✌G.

fuck the first Amendment. when the founding fathers thought about freedom of speech. they didn't know about social media. where every single ignorant fuck had a voice. that's the same argument gun ban Advocates are using. don't be stupid. attack the issue not a variable of the issue

Good episode and perspectives by Mike. However I completly disagree on the preaching of 'not naming the killer doesn't make a difference'. Just look up north here in Canada. Except for the extremely vile exceptions, most criminals are rarely named despite the crime being reported thoroughly. The result is the criminal never registering on the public psyche (unless you actually take the trouble of googling).
