Show Notes

On a beautiful day in sunny Sydney, Australia, Renae Marsden made her way to Jacob’s Ladder - a lookout in Watsons Bay's oceanside suburb.

It was the 5th of August, 2013, and Renae was just a couple months shy of her 21st birthday.

Climbing up a cliff known as “The Gap”, Renae stared into the crashing waves below.

It had been a devastating day, after her boyfriend, Brayden Spiteri, sent her a text that read, “I think I need a break, and so do you.”

Renae then sent a few texts back, including one to her mother, telling her she loved her and was sorry.

She then threw her phone into the ocean. Minutes later, Renae followed her phone over the cliff's edge.
