There’s a quiet solitude that comes as one walks amongst the cornstalks—a sweet silence absorbed by the ever-present susurrus of leaf against leaf and silk twisting in the wind. The cornstalks were so tall, they damn near blocked out the sunlight, much less anyone or anything else.
