Description

In the third part of our Mormonism series, we cover the establishment of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the reasons behind some of the more well-known Mormon laws, and Joseph Smith's adventures with mummies which led to some of the most deeply-held beliefs of the Latter-Day Saints.

Mel Ting It'll have Mormon symbols. They're supposed to be sacred and the same sorts of things are sewn onto temple garments. People who aren't lds and have a temple recommend are not allowed into the temple itself, hence why they probably keep an eye, it's a form of security.

Their are female missionaries, 'sisters'. But they can only go on a mission at 19 and for 18months.

Justin James Well females used to be 21 and only for 12 months. It was to do with the fact that women aren't expected to do a mission, whereas men really are. It was lowered so more women could go before getting married and having children. It was an awkward age as most guys return from their missions at the age of 20.

David Smith Did you only attend to do baptisms for the dead if you was in youth?

David Smith If your great great grandmother lost a husband, that does not mean so many women lost their husbands that they needed to become a polygamous wife. If your great great grandmother wrote about being told the imbalance was the reason for polygamy, that does not mean the reason was true. Just that she was told that was the reason. Census data is contemporary first hand information gathered at the time by people who weren't interested in justifying marrying 14 yr olds, foster daughters, women who were already married to living husbands, mother and daughter pairs.... guess which data I'm going to put my trust in. Besides, if the only way you can think of to support and protect women is to coerce them into marriage, then you have a screwed up sense of 'support and protect'. Why did Helen Kimball need the protection of marriage? She was 14 and both parents still lived.
