Episode 80 - An Identity Inventory: The First Step in True Change
It's true. If we let ourselves, we can be our own worst enemies. The harsh words we say, the negative thoughts we think.....all have an impact on how we view ourselves. If we don't take a good look at these patterns and do something to correct them, we could end up using coping mechanisms to cover things up and find ourselves in an even bigger mess.
That's what happened to my guest today. At the age of 24 years old, Jeremy Reid woke up one morning and realized he had several addictions that needed to stop: smoking, drinking and excessive eating. His life was already stressful and chaotic -- and the coping mechanisms just covered it in shame. He knew there had to be a way out, and he was determined to find it.
Today he will show us how he went from a 300 pound man who smoked 2 packs a day, drank excessively and ate to his hearts content....to shedding over 130 pounds in a year, appearing on CBS's The Doctors as an expert in the field of Personal Training for the past 13 years, and the owner of several businesses. As you do some self-reflecting of your own, be prepared to:
~Raise your standards & create positive core values about yourself
~Challenge yourself to look inward. What is your attitude toward yourself?
~Learn how small steps can lead to big change
