Email Deliverability is the ability to get your emails to subscribers’ inboxes. Sounds powerful, right?

You don’t want to invest all your time and energy into building your email list....only for your emails to get lost in cyberspace.

So what defines strong deliverability rates? Good email deliverability is 95% or higher and your email system’s deliverability is key to ensuring your emails reach the inbox.

Can I buy email lists?

I have many people every year who are interested in buying email lists and using them in their system. Unfortunately, this isn’t good practice.

It's critical to grow your list based on permissions. Giving people the option to subscribe (or unsubscribe) to your list can increase your personal deliverability.

Ready for another pro tip? Select a system that enforces good email practices by removing users who have high spam and unsubscribe rates. This will protect you from others on the shared IP who do abuse email permissions.

What systems have strong email deliverability?

Well, it depends on who you ask, so I went looking throughout the internet to see who has done some research and put together a list of the top email systems with good deliverability. 

Here's my Top Five:

  1. Mailer Lite
  2. Active Campaign
  3. ConvertKit (affiliate link)
  4. Constant Contact (affiliate link)
  5. Sendinblue

How do I increase deliverability?

Stats or tests can't always guarantee that your emails will hit the inbox, but a system that provides you with a solid deliverability score definitely helps. 

I've focused on steps before, but here's a refresher:

  1. Domain authentication: Use a DKIM key.
  2. Make sure your contacts opt-in.
  3. Write strong emails and subject lines that avoid spam filters.
  4. Allow people to choose what content they want to receive.
  5. Clean your list at least once every 6 months. 
  6. Only send value!
