I rischi di un'IA non regolamentata sono molteplici: alla fine del 2023, 31 Paesi avevano già approvato una qualche forma di legislazione sull'IA e 13 stavano attivamente discutendo nuove leggi. Tutti gli occhi sono puntati sugli Stati Uniti, ma le elezioni del 2024 potrebbero avere conseguenze sulla legislazione sull'IA generativa. Inoltre, la legge sull'IA recentemente approvata dall'UE ha suscitato un certo scalpore negli ultimi mesi.
