On 25 May 2018, the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation came into force amid much coverage and fanfare. Many companies, especially Internet-based ones, scrambled to comply with GDPR to ensure to they don't suffer any penalties if they were to be found guilty of not complying with any of its laws.
