On this weeks FMB Mixtape, we welcome Pépe, the Valencian producer known for seamlessly blending techno, bass, breakbeat and IDM. His crystalline melodies, intricate rhythms and glitch-infused soundscapes have gained him support from many including Ben UFO, Special Request and Objekt. Let’s catch up with him…

I have just had a run of two releases on Elicit and YUKU, alongside running my first party, “Patchwork”, where I invited Hermeneia to play an extended set. It was a great night of  dub-heavy, hardcore continuum explorations.

I recorded the mix at my studio in Alboraya, Valencia. Two XDJs and a turntable were used.

I wanted to record a straight-to-the-point mix of heavy club sonics. It goes from breakbeat and machine-funk acid into the more percussive, bassier fringes of my collection. As always, I’m obsessed with the concept of the hardcore continuum, and I like to see in which different ways I can tap into it with my mixes, trying to snip and patch many points of club music history into new collages. We go from Detroit to Manchester to Tokyo, Baltimore, South London and beyond with this one.
