Description

FS Group, Italys state-owned railway, is set to launch a new high-speed rail service from London to Paris via the Channel Tunnel in 2029, challenging Eurostars monopoly and Virgins timeline. Backed by US private equity firm Certares, FS Group plans to build a new facility in Paris to store most of their trains, allowing only one to stay overnight in the UK. The Channel Tunnels current capacity is underutilized, providing room for more services. FS Groups French arm, Trenitalia France, will receive one billion euros in investment, with a focus on UK routes. Virgin, led by Sir Richard Branson, plans to start their service by 2030, while FS Group aims to expand their stake in Avanti and High Speed Two. Trenitalia has been rapidly expanding in France since 2021, using super-fast trains that could potentially shift more people to rail from airlines. Checkout Solipillow.com
