California freshman linebacker Luke Ferrelli has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Rookie of the Year for 2025, earning the most votes from media members and coaches. He led all ACC freshmen in total tackles (87) and solo tackles (36), ranking 8th in the conference for total tackles. Ferrelli also made a game-winning interception against Boston College and had three games with ten or more tackles, including a career-high eleven against Texas Southern and Minnesota.
