Digest

This episode delves into the tragic murder of Shauna T of Faye, a vibrant woman whose life was cut short in Las Vegas. The story begins by introducing Shauna and her loving relationship with her husband, George. However, after the 2008 recession, George's personality shifted drastically, becoming controlling and abusive towards Shauna, leading to a strained marriage and eventual separation. Following their separation, Shauna moved out and started a new life, but her home was broken into twice, with strange items stolen and left behind. The second break-in resulted in Shauna's brutal murder. The investigation initially focused on George, but a tip from a local man led detectives to a homeless man named Noll Stevens. Noll confessed to the murder after evidence, including bloodstained jeans and a price tag for a hammer, was found at his campsite. He revealed that George had paid him to kill Shauna, promising him money from her life insurance policy. The episode reveals how George manipulated Noll into committing the murder, driven by financial gain and a desire to control Shauna's finances. After being informed that he was a suspect, George attempted suicide but survived and was arrested. Noll pleaded guilty and testified against George, implicating him as the mastermind behind the crime. Despite maintaining his innocence, George was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. The episode concludes with a discussion of the impact of the tragedy on Shauna's daughter and a call to action to support Safe House Nevada, a domestic violence organization.

Show Notes

Shauna and George Tiaffay were seen as a picture perfect couple, and they were genuinely happy until having a child and the financial crisis really changed George’s demeanor. One day in 2012, after separating, George brought their daughter over to Shauna’s house to get something, and the two found her lying dead on the floor, clearly brutally beaten. The following week was extremely stressful on Shauna’s family, as everything in the investigation really picked up speed. But they had a feeling that George wasn’t innocent as he claimed to be.
