Food waste, the current global issue, concerns Romania as well. A big portion of food remains every day, once our consumption is over. What to do with what is left, a couple of days before the expiry date? Retailers like Metro came up with the solution of the food banks. Metro was one of the founders of the food banks in Romania, starting five years ago. During this time, Metro donated more than 2000 tones of food products to the poor communities in Romania through the food banks.
