Hazardous Weather Outlook. This hazardous weather outlook is for east central florida. Day one. Today and tonight. Thunderstorm impact. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the interior, west of Orlando early this afternoon, then move toward the coast through early evening. Coverage will be more widespread today than previous days this week due to much higher moisture across the region. Storms today will be slow moving, capable of producing heavy rain, gusty winds up to 40 mph, and frequent lightning strikes. Always move indoors when thunder is heard or lightning observed. Flood impact. Slow moving showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing over 2 inches of rain in a short period of time. Heaviest rains could cause ponding of water on roads and poorly drained areas, especially in urban locations. Rip current impact. There will be a Moderate Risk of rip currents along the east central Florida coast today. The threat will be highest during the afternoon and early evening hours due to tidal effects. Always swim in sight of a lifeguard. Marine thunderstorm gust impact. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms this afternoon will be capable of producing wind gusts over 35 knots, impacting inland lakes. These thunderstorms will move toward the Atlantic coast through late afternoon and early evening along additional outflow boundaries. Mariners should remain aware of thunderstorm development and seek safe harbor when storms threaten. Fire weather impact. A Moderate to High fire danger will be present today. Wind shifts and increase in wind speeds associated with thunderstorm outflows and the sea breeze may cause any existing fires to spread more easily and lightning strikes may start new fires. Days two through seven. Saturday through thursday. Higher rain chances will be present through the middle of next week as a low pressure system moves across the Deep South, bringing higher moisture to the region. Showers and thunderstorms are expected area wide each day. A moderate to high fire weather danger will be present through this weekend. Lightning strikes from increased chances for thunderstorms may spark additional fires. Spotter information statement. Spotter activation should not be needed today and tonight.

Short Term Forecast. Scattered Morning Showers with More Numerous Storms Developing this Afternoon. Scattered showers will move east across Central Florida this morning, producing brief periods of measurable rain. Lightning storms will increase in coverage by this afternoon while moving toward the east coast. Showers and lightning storms will development through late afternoon.
