The maternity department at al-Shifa Hospital complex has been renovated using whatever materials could be sourced locally in Gaza. While the wider hospital remains largely destroyed by Israeli bombing, the ward is operating with the same old medical equipment. Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary reports from al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City. Doctor Ahmed Mokhallalati is a plastic surgeon and the former head of the burns unit at al-Shifa Hospital. He says Israel deliberately targeted the hospital on several occasions until it was out of service.
