Happy New Year Geek’d Up Gang! We’re back to kick off the 2022 right with news of anticipated releases to come in 2022 and 2023 and we also get into our long awaited review of Spider-Man “No Way Home”. Diving into our Nerd News segment, Chris announced the producer of Final Fantasy 16 apologized for not showing more of the game in 2021. Due to delays caused by Covid-19 the next big reveal won’t be until Spring of 2022 according to IGN.com. Chief remains hopeful of the next drop to come. He breaks down the history as the game evolved with Nintendo and GameCube systems. Thaiger brings up the removal of Tokyo Revenger’s voice actor, Tatsuhisa Suzuki. He’s known for voicing Drakken from Tokyo Revengers, Ban from Seven Deadly Sins and Anos Voldigoad from Misfit of Demon King Academy. He’s being removed from these 3 anime series due to a cheating scandal with Demon Slayer singer, LiSA. The queen then announces the pre-registiontration and special teaser of the Takt Op Destiny Mobile Game was released on Christmas, and finally she brings up the new trailer for The Batman: The Bat and the Cat starring Robert Patterson and introducing Zoe Kravitz as the new Cat Woman. Mac brings up all the backlash Zoe has been receiving for being chosen for the role but Thaiger and Chief ain’t having it. Chief confesses his doubts about Robert Patterson playing Batman but Mac thinks differently and wants to remain open minded. Mac brings up the drop of the 2022 Bleach Trailer for the “Thousand Year Blood Arc” and the season premiere delay to October 2022 for the new season. Chief announces the passing of John Madden, the face of the multi-billion dollar video game franchise. The famous commentator will forever be remembered as a nostalgic part of our childhoods. The gang breaks into the new releases set to come out in 2022. Thaiger starts with The Faraway Paladin which was confirmed on Christmas day to get a season 2. No official dates have been given as of yet. Next the queen reminds us AOT is back on Jan 9th with ep 76, part 2 of the final season. The episode is called “Condemnation”. She also gives her opinion on the 8 newly released episodes from the DVD collection. Finally Thaiger gets the crew hip to Odd Taxi which is set to come out with Season 2 in April of 2022. Lord Mac runs down a list of previously mentioned anime that will be coming out in 2022 and 2023. Chief brings up the return of Black Clover and My Hero Academia. He shares how surprised he is at how quickly the series is coming back after the last season. Mac shares his excitement over the Chainsaw man coming out. Thaiger leads the gang into the Marvel Universe with news of Shang-Chi’s Simu Liu and his opinion on super hero fashion. Last but not least the team finally gets into the Spider-Man movie! Mac and Chris go crazy and give the movie all the praise as it garnered an impressive $1 billion in one week at the box office. Mac notes this is the first movie to break $1billion since the covid era. The squad discussed how the movie experience was in their respective theaters during this ending of the trilogy with Spider-Man. Chief brings up this was supposed to be Tom Holland’s last Spider Man but due to the success of the movie fans are talking about another one with him. Mac disagrees with how Tom handled his role and shouldn’t be returning. Chris notes how the best friends and side characters stepped up in this movie. Mac theorizes that his best friend may turn on Spider-Man in the future leading to more movies. The crew get into their favorite parts about the movie. Chris starts by bringing up Dr. Strange and him stepping in with Tony’s absence. Thaiger notices how in the last couple movies everyone has been looking to Dr. Strange and Wong for leadership. Mac wants to fanboy with Thaiger over the villains coming back. William Defoe stole the movie with his portrayal of the Green Goblin
