Gen Z Surprises: Most Prepared for Retirement
Update: 2025-11-29
Description
Generation Z, often perceived as big spenders, may be the most financially prepared for retirement. A Vanguard study shows nearly half of Gen Z workers are on track to maintain their lifestyle in retirement, surpassing baby boomers. Millennials and Gen X are also doing well, with 42% and 41% respectively. This readiness is attributed to employer-offered retirement plans and valuable financial lessons learned from inflation and high living costs. However, about 40 million workers, mainly from lower-wage jobs, still lack access to these plans. Despite strong saving habits, younger generations grapple with significant debt, emphasizing the need for comprehensive financial planning tools for lasting retirement security.
