Description

Content warning: This episode discusses themes of mental health.

Today we explore the topic of gender through the lens of engineering. We are joined by the incredible Lily Curtis, a sociologist and current PhD student, who shares her expertise on how our gender identities can have an influence on our daily lives and why this is important to understand as future engineers. We discuss how gender impacts the frameworks in which we live and work, the harm that comes from perpetuating stereotypes and the importance of having diverse and inclusive teams.

Through this discussion we aim to shed light on the intersection of gender and engineering and help to raise awareness and normalise discussions on these topics as we embark on our engineering careers. This episode is not one to miss!

A very big thank you to Lily for generously sharing her knowledge with us.

As per usual, huge shoutout to Radio Monash for allowing us to use their recording facilities so that we can sound EXTRA crisp in your ears!
