Description

Calling it Minnesota's COVID-19 Recovery Budget, Governor Tim Walz unveiled a $52.4 billion dollar plan for FY22-23 that would focus on aiding families, small businesses and students in recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.  We have details and highlights of the announcement and the subsequent Republican response.

A bill to put veterans with service-related injuries on a path to rehabilitation instead of incarceration when facing some criminal charges is, once again, before the legislature.  Senator Roger Chamberlain, R-Lino Lakes, is carrying a bill that would provide guidance for courts to establish Restorative Justice Programs statewide, and he joins Capitol Report moderator Shannon Loehrke to talk more about it.

Senator Jennifer McEwen, DFL-Duluth, defeated incumbent Erik Simonsen in the primary, going on to win the November election to represent District 7 in the Minnesota Senate.  She joins Shannon to talk about the issues that made her candidacy successful.
