Description

Yikes P. Bikes, this episode scores five "yi-yi-yi-yi-yis" as Kelly + Molly connect the dots to baby first hospitals, solitary confinement and heartbeat bills. We're not a commander-friendly podcast as we watch Handmaid's Tale S3E9's drama unfold in a radical, experimental free-range hospital in Gilead. There are shades of Black Mirror's "San Junipero" as Natalie (Ashleigh LaThrop) makes her day rate for doing very little while June becomes an unreliable narrator for an episode. The gals Google through their thoughts to figure out what the 80s were like, marvel at the outsize presence Cherry Jones has in the show and read the new children's book An Eyepatch for Janine. The focus on June’s mental health was important - yes, hard to watch at times, but such a valuable addition to spark thinking on how we treat *anyone* suffering with mental health issues - especially those who resort to violence as an extension of their internal anguish and loss of center. I kind of found the discussion on the episode to be shallow, unfortunately... there was so much rich material here to be digested and processed over time.
