Holiday Shoppers Seek Value, Use AI for Deals
Update: 2025-11-28
Description
Shoppers in Los Angeles and across the nation are planning to spend less this holiday season due to economic uncertainty and rising prices. Despite retailers offering big deals, consumers are being more cautious with their money. The Citadel Outlets in Commerce saw huge crowds earlier this week, with shoppers like Camila Romero and her daughter looking for the best discounts on items like Ugg boots and Coach bags. Rebecca Lohrey, a partner at Deloitte, noted that consumers are actively looking for ways to cut costs, including switching brands if their first choice is too expensive. While some shoppers believe current discounts simply bring prices down to what they would normally be, the National Retail Federation predicts a record number of Americans will shop over the Thanksgiving weekend, with retail sales expected to grow between three point seven and four point two percent compared to last year. This focus on value means shoppers are increasingly using new tools, including artificial intelligence, to find deals.
