Not sure what the Midwest "punches above its weight" electorally means to you, but it sounds condescending. People in the midwest (IA) are as sophisticated in proportions of local population as Americans in any area of the country. People here just aren't as smug. There's no argument against our apportionment of electors any more than that of senators. It's by design. I think the other relevant component that forms perceptions among metro types that people in "flyover country" are cartoony bumpkins is a drastic underestimation of the uneducated, politically ignorant people living around them. You see the same thing between Des Moines and Iowans from more rural parts of the state (my hometown is pop. 26K). It's unfounded. All of that said, I listen to this pod religiously since discovering it, so don't be dicks to the corn people. PS - Green New Deal = another plan without a plan. AOC needs to prove she's more than a social media star, like Prez Peaches.
