Burnout is NOT fun!

Over working yourself to the point where you need to sleep for days is not cool. Being busy is not something you should aspire to. Amazing time management and career alignment should be the goal.

While working too many hours can lead to burnout, it's not the only cause.


  1. Too many hours

  2. Working a job you hate

  3. Working for a terrible leader

  4. Not enough rest

  5. Too much stress

  6. Lack of support system

  7. Ethics / morals / values don't align to your organization

  8. Don't get to make your own choices

  9. Bored or not challenged enough

  10. Taking on too much at once

So with that, what exactly is burnout?

Signs of burnout:

  1. Feeling tired / exhausted

  2. Not wanting to eat

  3. Easily getting sick

  4. Anxiety is heightened

  5. Having a hard time sleeping

  6. Difficulty focusing

  7. Irritability

  8. Easy to get angry or annoyed

  9. Feeling sad or depressed

  10. Being overly negative / can't find the positive

  11. Losing joy / happiness in things / activities / people you used to find it in

  12. Withdrawing

  13. Low performance / productivity

  14. Becoming obsessive over things / activities

What to do:

  1. Take time off if you can

  2. Re-balance workload

  3. Talk to your leader - ask for options

  4. Get some movement in on a regular basis

  5. Sleep, sleep, sleep

  6. Add in more healthy eating options / vitamins

  7. Try meditation

  8. Engage in activities that relax you

  9. Do some breath work

  10. Get help

  11. Chat with friends, family and co-workers more frequently

  12. Distance yourself from negative people

  13. Work on projects that fuel your purpose
