How Zanny Can We Get? A Ghoul Power Podcast!
Welcome to our lock-down social distancing podcast on RORE. This is a zanny podcast with audio clips from the one and only - the original - "scratch glass," "turn blue," "stay stick," and "climb walls," The Ghoul himself!
Greg goes down memory lane well over 40 years ago about a zanny show on local Detroit TV. The Ghoul aired around 1971 originally out of Cleveland, OH, and made its way into Detroit with a weekend night show of downright terrible B rated horror movies, with cut-ins and crazy soundbites. The Ghoul had his own segments of goofy nonsense and parodies, along with his wild sidekick rubber frog, Froggy, "Hiya gang, hiya hiya hiya!"
"Shooting from no-budget studio sets, the Ghoul inserted his own dialogue and sound effects over insufferably bad B movies, blew up food, model cars and figurines with firecrackers, and produced strangely compelling, culturally relevant skits and parodies. The show was destructive and childish enough for little kids, subversive and timely enough for young adults." (Wikipedia)
Unfortunately, Ron Sweed (The Ghoul) passed away in April of 2019 at the age of 70. But his crazy antics and memorabilia live on at http://www.theghoul.com/
This short but fun podcast will hopefully make you laugh and smile if nothing else.
Until then: stay safe, stay healthy, and stay sane! "Overdey!"
