Jim Rohn covers all the bases. He really only misses the modern methods of digital journals, Internet syncing, smart phones and such methods that are an integral part of keeping journals for the past decade or so. 

Principles don't change, and there he touches all the bases. 

I think this is the perfect reference for someone wanting to start to keep a journal for the first time. It is short and concise and he doesn't waste your time.
