IU Volleyball's Cinderella Season Continues in NCAA Tournament
Update: 2025-12-01
Description
Indiana Universitys volleyball team, led by head coach Steve Aird, is making waves with an unexpectedly successful season. Despite initial predictions of finishing eleventh in the Big Ten, they secured a fifth-place finish and a number four seed in the NCAA Tournament. This marks their first NCAA appearance since 2010. The team, featuring five freshmen in key roles, has a potent offense led by seniors Candela Alonso-Corcelles, Avry Tatum, and Jaidyn Jager, and seniors Jessica Smith and Madi Sell. They will host the first two rounds of the tournament at Wilkinson Hall, starting with a match against MAC tournament champion Toledo. Coach Aird is excited about the home advantage and believes the team has a real chance to advance and do something special.
