Philippians 2:9-11 (NIV) 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

1. Do we have to embrace bondage?
2nd Timothy 2:26 (NLT) 26 Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.
Temptation? YES! Bondage? NO!
Romans 6:6 (NLT) 6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
Galatians 5:1 (NLT) 1 So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
WE ARE FREE!
Romans 6:7 (NLT) 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.
ARE YOU FREE?
Romans 6:10 (NLT) 7 When he died, he died once
to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.

 

1st John 4:4 (NLT) 4 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.

2. Is freedom a choice?
Righteousness? YES! Sin? NO!

Romans 12:2a (NLT) 2a Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.
James 1:14-15 (NLT) 14 Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. 15 These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.
Galatians 5:13 (NLT) For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
Psalm 119:45-48 (NLT)  45 I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments. 46 I will speak to kings about your laws, and I will not be ashamed. 47 How I delight in your commands! How I love them! 48 I honor and love your commands. I meditate on your decrees.
1st Corinthians 6:12 (NLT) 12 You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.
“BONDAGE” keeps us from receiving God’s best!
“FREEDOM” is a gift from God!

1st Peter 2:16 (NIV) 16 Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.
