It's Boiled Over the Capitol
Description
This episode is the most heated episode yet. It's the most real. The most cut. The most emotional. Because that's what our nation is at right now.
We're so divided in more ways than one that this polarization infection has seeped into family relationships. To anyone that knows my family intimately, we are political and can have vicious debates defending our opinions. I share this, for I find it unfair to you all to include only the good, only the poised and elegant, cutesy rebuttals. Therefore, this emerges.
The TLDR: Gary's point is that the media unfairly designated the Capitol rioters in solely negative terms rather than bring light as to the motivation behind their frustrations. His point remains (to this day) that the Capitol rioters are just as valid as those who partook in the Black Lives Matter protests earlier this year. However, because BLM is supported by the Democrats, CNN, MSNBC, and left-leaning parties, their media portrayed them in a more favorable light. They did not equate all democrats to the extreme left group Antifa. Yet, they quickly labeled all republicans to be apart of the Proud Boys.
My point remains the media does sway how society remembers history; however, there is a stark difference between those who were apart of the Capitol riot vs those who marched alongside Black Lives Matter, for not only was their objective different in nature, but the way they voiced their frustrations was evidently different. On one hand, the Capitol rioters brought guns to the Floor do House of Representatives and used force to break their way into federal proceedings. Meanwhile, BLM did not stop federal proceedings, nor did they put pipe bombs anywhere. They were protesting mostly peacefully on the streets.
So enjoy. It's a hoot and a holler to say the least. But an important (and difficult) conversation to have with parents.
