Patriarchy is not only toxic for the women subjugated under it, it's an impossible system for the men to exercise. It's a reaction to the perceived feminization of the church, of culture, and of society. It's an ideology wherein it's not enough to *be* a man, you must *do* manly things to prove it. And therein lies the problem, an identity wrapped up in performance rather than the gospel.
