It is Finished: God’s Forgiveness and Our Response
Description
Are you struggling with unforgiveness for someone else or for yourself? Have there been times when you felt as though you could never be forgiven for something you had done? On episode 13, Krysta and Traci discuss the topic of forgiveness, addressing the Love of God and the forgiveness He offers, as well as our responsibility to carry on that forgiveness to others.
The sisters also discuss the challenge of broken covenants, such as divorce, and that those broken promises are forgivable. Listeners will be encouraged to go to our Father in heaven to ask Him to strengthen their trust in Him. Christ understood our condition and advocates for us to the Father.
Key Topics Include:
- God loves us and he wants us.
- Forgiveness is extremely important in our walk with the Lord.
- Holding on to unforgiveness causes us to suffer.
- The lack of forgiveness, or accepting forgiveness, becomes a gateway for the enemy’s attacks.
- We may ask God to help us forgive or accept His forgiveness, and He is never far from us.
- We as humans have broken countless covenants, but God never changes.
- Marriage is often used in scripture to symbolize the relationship between God and His people.
- Jesus paid the price of this broken covenant and has put a new covenant on our hearts.
Scripture Verses Mentioned: In the New International Version
- 1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
- Hebrews 10: 15 – 18 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds” (Jeremiah 31:33 ). Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.
- 2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
- Luke 23:34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
- John 10: 27, 28 “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.”
- Additional verses to read: Matthew 18:21 - 35, John 10, and 1 John 1: 7 – 10.
- Psalm 51 is a good scripture to pray for anyone struggling with the need for forgiveness.
Traci and Krysta continue to pray for those who are listening to the podcast. Listeners are encouraged to read the full passages listed above, and to seek to know Him more through prayer and searching scripture. They invite listeners to share feedback about this week’s topic, submit new topics and questions, or to request prayer by visiting the website iamnotenough.us.
