Description

Jeff Kent, a former Toronto Blue Jays second baseman, has been elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, while Carlos Delgado and Roger Clemens, also former Blue Jays, were not selected. Kent received 14 votes from the Eras Committee, securing his place in Cooperstown. Delgado received 9 votes, and Clemens received fewer than 5 votes. Kents career highlights include five All-Star selections and winning the National League MVP award in 2000. Delgado spent 12 of his 17 major league seasons with the Blue Jays, earning two All-Star nods and three Silver Slugger awards. Clemens, widely considered one of the greatest pitchers ever, played two seasons for Toronto in 1997 and 1998, winning the Cy Young award in both years. However, allegations of performance-enhancing drug use have complicated his Hall of Fame candidacy. Kents Hall of Fame plaque will feature a San Francisco Giants cap, reflecting where he spent the majority of his impactful career.
