Judge Modifies Abrego Garcia Gag Order After Prosecutors Warned It Included Nearly 300,000 DHS Employees
Update: 2025-11-11
Description
U.S. District Court Judge Waverly Crenshaw, an appointee of former President Barack Obama, on Tuesday agreed to modify his previous court order gagging members of the Trump administration from commenting on the human smuggling case against Kilmar Abrego Garcia. His decision came after prosecutors warned the original order covered all of the nearly 300,000 employees at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The request was made earlier this month by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), who told Crenshaw that the requirement for his office to notify almost 300,000 DHS employees could create unnecessary confusion.
