Kennedy Assassination Plot Foiled by Postman's Mercy
Update: 2025-12-10
Description
On December 11, 1960, a last-minute change of heart saved President-elect John F. Kennedy from a likely assassination. Richard Paul Pavlick, a disgruntled postman, planned to detonate a car packed with dynamite as Kennedy left his Palm Beach home for Sunday mass. Pavlicks anti-Catholic sentiments and belief in a fraudulent election led him to this drastic measure. However, he couldnt harm Kennedys young children, leading to a postponement of the assassination. The Secret Service was already on his trail, and he was arrested four days later. Pavlick was later ruled mentally ill and committed to an institution. The criminal charges against him were dropped ten days after Kennedys tragic assassination in 1963.
