Description

On this episode of Knowing Me, Knowing You, Trent is joined by psychotherapist and counsellor, Dabaco Sunset, to start a two-part chat on the topic of Shadow Work.

Dabaco shares about his own lived experience, as well as his private practice where he specialises in supporting queer community through various therapeutic modalities, some of which include Gestalt Therapy, Embodiment Counselling and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Together, they also discuss:

  • What it means to work as a queer-affirming relational therapist,

  • What Shadow Work therapy is, and where it originates from,

  • Whether everyone has a “shadow” side,

  • How shadow work can relate to and inform our sense of control,

  • Some of the different ways that our shadow selves can play out,

  • The role of “shame” in doing our shadow work,

  • How attachment styles can be an access point for shadow work, as well as

  • How our relationships and their dynamics can inform our shadow and shadow work.

Please keep in mind, the discussions, topics, and advice provided as part of this podcast are general in nature. They should not replace specific and individualised mental health support that might be needed.
