Adults around me often saw it as being antisocial or “having an attitude,” when really, I was just trying to find peace in my own space. Now as an adult, I realize that what I was doing back then was a form of protecting my peace—even if I didn’t have the words for it. I’ve learned that taking time to isolate isn’t a bad thing. It’s actually one of the ways I recharge, reflect, and reconnect with myself. These days, I’m more intentional about it. Whether it’s sitting in silence, journaling, or walking in nature, I’ve embraced solitude as a real part of my healing and mental health journey. So if you’ve ever felt strange for needing space—know that it’s not just okay, it’s healthy. Your energy matters. 💛
