Let's talk about it, anywhere in the world # 20: Dorene Wiese
Description
Doctor Dorene Wiese is the president of the American Indian Association of Illinois (AIAI), which is located in Chicago, her hometown. The focus of her work is social justice through education, especially by learning traditional indigenous cultural practices and stories. As an Ojibwe woman who grew up witnessing stereotypes, racism, and poverty in Minneapolis, she belongs to the first generation of American Indians who stood up against prejudice and discrimination, especially in urban areas, in the 1960's and 1970's.
