Description

"With the eighth pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers select Larry Hughes, St. Louis University." Those were the words spoken by the former NBA Commissioner David Stern. One of the most heralded basketball stars to come out of the St. Louis area, Larry Hughes "stayed home" and played one year at St. Louis University where he was named "Freshman of the Year" before becoming an NBA lottery pick and embarking on a 14-year professional career. He played with the likes of Allen Iverson, LeBron James, and Michael Jordan. He was named All-Defensive NBA Player of the Year and led the league in steals in 2005 and also participated in the Slam Dunk Contest in 2000. Hughes has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Sacramento Kings, Charlotte Bobcats, and Orlando Magic. He has done and seen it all in the game of basketball.

Since his playing career, Larry and his family have made St. Louis home where he is an entrepreneur where he created and developed the Larry Hughes Basketball Academy. He's active serving youth basketball in many forms in and around the St. Louis area. Join us as we deep dive into Larry's story of life in the NBA, lessons learned along the way, and his thoughts on the racial unrest in our country. It’s a conversation you won’t want to miss.
