Listen In: Foxtails Brigade, “Far Away and Long Ago”
Description
To describe Foxtails Brigade’s “Far Away and Long Ago” as grandiose would be like calling Donald Trump mildly offensive; with its breakneck string arrangements and unexpected twists and turns, “Far Away and Long Ago” packs all the thrills of a Hollywood blockbuster into a three-minute song. Originally released earlier this year as part of OIM Records’ Compilation, Vol. 1, the song is also due to appear on the group’s upcoming self-titled full-length.

Listen in as vocalist/guitarist Laura Weinbach and violinist/arranger Anton Patzner discuss the role of cinema in their songwriting, the spooky Halloween vibe in the song’s chorus and their distrust of mass production in this episode of the podcast.
Don’t miss the group this Saturday, Nov. 21, when they perform at Oakland’s Awaken Cafe alongside San Francisco rockers (and Listen In alumni) Be Calm Honcho, and be sure to watch the brilliant one-take video for “Far Away and Long Ago,” currently running up awards at film festivals across the country, below.
