Description

The Government Chief Whip and Minister of State Mary Butler has acknowledged the FF party "made a hames" of the Jim Gavin presidency situation.

In a wide-ranging studio interview on 'Deise Today' with Damien Tiernan this morning (Friday), she acknowledged it's resulted in a lot of difficulties for FF and unfortunately has done some damage to its party leader Michael Martin.

In a wide-ranging interview on the programme, the Waterford TD and Junior Minister also spoke in strong terms about the High Court court case - a decision on which is due this afternoon - where two Opposition TDs have alleged the attendance of "super junior" ministers at meetings of the Government is "unconstitutional".

Mary Butler told Damien she is always a very positive person but was "very annoyed today! about this case, given how important it is for the mental health ministry to be part of Cabinet.
