Virginia’s fall election season is about to become a lot more visible now that the Labor Day weekend has arrived, and one area House of Delegates race is expected to be one of the most tightly-contested in the state. Democrat Lily Franklin came close two years ago in the 41st District, losing to Republican Chris Obenshain by less than 200 votes. She is trying again this year, a year in which Radford University Political Science Professor Chapman Rackaway says two things may help her: off-year elections are more likely to boost the party out of power in Washington, and Franklin has outraised Obenshain more than two-to-one. Both political parties seem certain to devote plenty of attention and money to this race, as WFIR’s Evan Jones reports:
