Video was replacing film and threatening to saturate the market with low quality and low production products. AIDS was a growing issue that the government wasn't acknowledging. And, the industry was nearly brought to it's knees (pun intended) by a "not ready for prime-time player" scandal.

Turk, relates the story of actress and one-time adult film performer Traci Lords, and how she, with or without help, almost destroyed the adult entertainment industry. And, much to his displeasure, acceptance of another perspective.
