Better Noise MusicMötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee will release his new solo album, Andro, this Friday. As Lee tells ABC Audio, the record is divided into two sections: one side of "female energy," and another of "male energy."

"It wasn't intentional," Lee says of the Andro concept. "It happened once I started sequencing the record once it was done."

"I kinda struggled with putting it together so it would all have some sort of common thread," he continues. "Then I just realized, 'You know what? Why don't I just give them their own space?' and let them dance together, but in their own spaces, and then that was it. I was, like, 'That's it!'"

Musically, Andro is much more hip-hop and electronic-influenced than the hard rock and metal Lee plays in Mötley Crüe. Ever since he stepped away from the "Dr. Feelgood" rockers for a few years in the late '90s and early 2000s and first went solo, he's wanted to make music that reflects his own genre-hopping palate.

"When I took a break and left Mötley for awhile, I was going through -- oh, Jesus -- like a creative puberty or something," Lee laughs. "[I'd] been doing Mötley for so long that I was, like, 'I have all these other ideas and other genres of music that I just absolutely f***ing love.'"

With Andro, Lee continues to jump "all over the map" when it comes to different musical styles.

"I don't think there's a genre I haven't really touched," he says.

"Other than country music," he quips. "And I won't be going down that road.
