The M.A.D.1, launched in 2021 under MB&F's more accessible “M.A.D. Editions” label, was conceived as a whimsical yet affordable introduction to Max Büsser’s avant-garde designs, originally offered only to friends and collectors using a modified Miyota movement. Its successor, the M.A.D.1S, debuted in 2024 with a slimmer profile at 42 mm wide and 15 mm tall, roughly 20% thinner with a change to a Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement. Time is still read laterally via a rotating cylinder on the case side, with a simplified single-cylinder display and refined slimmer lugs.
