Description

In 2013 a 17-year-old boy's body was found rolled up in a high school gym mat. Local law enforcement was quick to rule it an accident and move on but the family is sure this is a case of murder being covered up.

Contested. 1st autopsy: accidental, positional asphyxia. 2nd autopsy: blunt force trauma. 3rd autopsy: apparent non-accidental, blunt force trauma.

Never mentioned the fact of the problem he wad having in the school with a young man whose father is a high official of some sort... not mentioned. No one even talked about that, camera times deleted, just a big cover up, then his organs missing on top of that.......

I have followed the case from the beginning, knowing someone close to the case, there is so much misinformation. There is a video online showing him walking into the gym to get his shoes.

He didnt die JUST because he was upside down. He was upside down AND suffocated from lack of air... much like having a plastic bag around your face.

So I don’t think this was an accident at all. However the swollen face from being upside down would actually happen and would bruise due to blood flow.

«Wait, what?» & «I’m sorry, what?» Could not feel more constructed.. «Literally»!

If anyone has ever seen these mats in person, there's no way you'd crawl to the bottom of it. A child would barely fit!

There doesn't necessarily need to be blood in blunt force trauma, if he was hit in the throat he could have ended up suffocating because of the internal injuries. If the blood wasn't his, and its "old blood" why didn't the school clean it up earlier?! With everyone running around scared about possible blood borne pathogens why was it left?

Why wouldn’t he pull the mat down and unroll it for his shoes? I think he was beaten unconscious by someone and then put into the Mat, and that’s why he didn’t cry out.

Christine Kettler There were other mats standing up around it he wouldn’t have been able to knock it down. These mats are huge.

Lesly Carter agreed. you wouldn't even have to unroll it to get the shoes, just knock it over and pull the shoes out the other end

I love you & Brit!! I’ve shared this podcast with my friends. Thanks so much for bringing these cases to light for more exposure for the families of the victims to have closure.

I thought you guys said the organs were removed. Why are they mention in the autopsy then?

Brit is especially awful in this episode. I love this podcast but she is the worst. Also, this poor kid was definitely murdered. Why in the world would a kid dive into a mat to get a shoe instead of just knocking it over? How was all this wriggling that supposedly got him more and more stuck not enough to knock the mat over? How did he even get in if his shoulders are 5 inches wider than the mat opening? If it's that easy to get trapped in a mat and die, how have we never heard of this in any school before?

I truly don't believe that ANYONE would dive into a 6ft rolled up mat head first....how would you get out? there is definitely something suspicious here...

Shelby Weinstein I completely agree. I don't see someone diving into the matt knowing there's no way to wiggle back out.

I wonder why he didnt just push the mat over

Tony Bruce I was thinking he was murdered and after they rolled him in the mat, they pushed the mat over a little bit just enough to put the shoes on the bottom . Maybe that's why there wasn't any blood on the shoes?

Beau Galvan That is if he was alive or if that is really the reason why he was in the mat (to get the shoe)

His head & face were swollen. if you're upside down for even a short time, your head would swell. I don't see how you could get out of that position w/o help. However, I think someone could certainly have put him there. ughhh what a horrible death.

I live in Utah and in 2009 there was a man named John Jones who died from positional asphyxia from being trapped while spelunking in Nutty Putty Cave. In that case, the rescue workers actually watched as he asphyxiated while they tried, tirelessly, to get him out. It was a slow process but he was in and out of consciousness. It might be a story to look at for reference since there were medical personnel there who watched it happen. I know he wasn't directly upside down he was more at an angle with his feet above his head so it did take a long time. With Kendrick being completely upside down, I wonder, if that would have made the process much fast.

I would think if he was hit in the throat, blood would come up and out in a gush. And if he fell backwards the blood would have sprayed away from his head. If he were hit with enough force, he would have fallen backwards and not crumpled. I don't feel like there being no blood on his clothes is a big deal. Obviously just speculation on my part.

I am from the town this occurred in and the beginning of your report is not accurate. He wasn't reported missing from his family that soon.

Sandi D. Probably not but most parents get concerned when they haven't seen or heard from their child in over 48 hours. Either way it is a very sad situation that could have been handled better by authorities and the school

Raven Boyd That is an incredibly small detail. She could have waited two days and it wouldn't have changed the fact that he was dead.

it's not just that he was upside down, he is also constricted and squished in the mat. the more he tries to get out, the more stuck he gets. he vomits, he can't breathe, he definitely can't cry out.
